特异性 EEF2 Rabbit Recombinant mAb detects endogenous level of total EEF2.
背景 Eukaryotic elongation factor 2 (EEF2) is a monomeric protein, with a mass of 95.2 kDa, having 857 amino acid residues and is located in cytoplasm. It is a member of the G-protein super family which undergoes conformational changes associated with binding of the guanosine nucleotide and hydrolysis of the bound GTP. eEF2 regulates peptide-chain elongation. The eEF2 activity determines the translocation step of protein synthesis thus regulating the protein synthesis. Phosphorylation of eEF2 inhibits its activity by preventing it from binding to the ribosome thus affecting the translocation and poly (U)-directed polyphenylalanine synthesis. The regulation at the level of translation elongation in eukaryotes seems to be one of the important steps in regulating protein synthesis. This step is mainly regulated through activation and deactivation of eEF2.
