特异性 NRF1 Rabbit Recombinant mAb detects endogenous level of total NRF1.
背景 The nuclear respiratory factors, NRF-1 and NRF-2, contribute to the expression of respiratory subunits and mitochondrial transcription factors and thus have been implicated in nucleo-mitochondrial interactions. NRF-1 could activate cytochrome c. NRF-1 has a unique DNA-binding domain, binds its recognition site as a homodimer, and functions as a positive regulator of transcription. It has a carboxy-terminal transcriptional activation domain composed of glutamine-containing clusters of hydrophobic amino acid residues that are essential for maximal activity. In proliferating mammalian cells, NRF-1 is serine phosphorylated within a concise amino-terminal domain, and phosphorylation within this domain has been associated with enhancement of both its DNA-binding activity and trans-activation functions. NRF-1 is a key regulator of nucleus-encoded subunits of all five respiratory complexes. In addition, it has a potential integrative function in coordinating bi-genomic respiratory subunit expression through its control over major regulators of mitochondrial transcription, including Tfam and both mtTFB isoform genes.
