| 背景 | The Rab11 subfamily consists of three isoforms--Rab11a, Rab11b, and Rab25. Rab11a and Rab11b are ubiquitously expressed, whereas Rab25 expression is restricted to epithelial cells. Rab11 proteins regulate the slow recycling of the transferrin receptor to the plasma membrane and Rab11 is highly concentrated in the perinuclear endocytic recycling compartment (ERC). Like all GTPases of the Ras family, Rab11 functions as a molecular switch. Rabs associate with membranes in the guanosine diphosphate (GDP)-bound form and switch to a GTP-bound conformation in a reaction catalyzed by a GEF. Rab11a is an important regulator of TLR4 trafficking and regulates transport of TLR4 to endosomes. It is a well-defined marker of apical recycling endosomes. |
