背景

激活素是二聚体生长与分化因子，属于结构相关的信号蛋白——转化生长因子-β（TGF-β）超家族。激活素通过受体丝氨酸激酶组成的异源复合体传递信号，该复合体至少包含两种I型受体（I型和IB型）和两种II型受体（II型和IIB型）。这些受体均为跨膜蛋白，由富含半胱氨酸的配体结合胞外域、跨膜域以及具有预测丝氨酸/苏氨酸特异性的胞内域构成。I型受体对信号传导至关重要；II型受体则负责配体结合及调控I型受体的表达。配体结合后，I型与II型受体形成稳定复合物，导致II型受体磷酸化I型受体。激活素A的突变与进行性骨化性纤维发育不良相关。
